Preparing for a great civilian career doesn't have to wait until the end of military service. Marines and their families can explore education, training, certifications, and employment resources throughout the military life cycle.

Build Skills Through Voluntary Education

Marine Corps Voluntary Education offices help Marines and their families build the knowledge, credentials, and career skills needed for the future. Education specialists provide guidance on academic planning, tuition assistance, financial aid, opportunities to earn degrees or credentials, and resources such as MilSpouse Works.

Turn Military Experience into Credentials

The Marine Corps Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) program helps Marines identify certifications and licenses related to their military occupational specialty (MOS). Earning industry-recognized credentials can help Marines demonstrate their skills to civilian employers while strengthening their technical knowledge and readiness for their current mission.

Support Military Family Members’ Careers

The Family Member Employment Assistance Program (FMEAP) helps military spouses and eligible family members prepare for employment opportunities. Specialists can assist with resumes, job searches, transferable skills, career planning, and information about professional license transfers. Starting early can help spouses maintain career momentum through permanent change of station (PCS) moves and other military transitions.

SpouseWorks (formerly SECO), a War Department initiative, provides comprehensive education and career guidance, support and resources to military spouses pursuing employment or an advanced degree.

Navigate the Transition Process

The Transition Readiness Program (TRP) helps Marines prepare for civilian life through transition counseling, career planning, education, and employment resources. Marines can explore options such as civilian employment, higher education, entrepreneurship, and additional training.

Readiness starts with preparation. Take the first step toward your next opportunity today.
