The Unit, Personal, and Family Readiness Program (UPFRP) is a unit centric program, guided by the Family Readiness Command Team that reinforces the relationship between the unit and the services relevant to the unit, the unit members, and their families. The primary goal of UPFRP is to empower Marines and family members, providing them the opportunities to not just survive but to thrive while taking on the challenges of the military lifestyle.

Readiness & Deployment Support educates and prepares military members and their families to cope with the challenges of all types of deployments and family separations including the Command team members and Deployment Readiness Coordinator who will guide families and Marines through deployments.

Unit, Personal & Family Readiness Program Training

The Unit, Personal, and Family Readiness Program (UPFRP) is a unit centric program, guided by the Family Readiness Command Team that reinforces the relationship between the unit and the services relevant to the unit, the unit members, and their families. The primary goal of UPFRP is to empower Marines and family members, providing them the opportunities to not just survive but to thrive while taking on the challenges of the military lifestyle. Training is provided to all Command Team members, Readiness Coordinators, and the UPFRP volunteers to ensure consistency and continuity across all Marine Corps UPFRPs.

What is a Readiness Coordinator?

The Readiness Coordinator, formally known as “The FRO,” is the face of the Commanding Officer’s vision for family readiness and will provide direct coordination for the Unit, Personal & Family Readiness Program.

Who is in a Marine’s Family?

A Marine’s Family is defined as all members of a Marine’s Family. The Marine’s family includes the one they are “Born Into”, Sworn into” and “Married Into” as well as friends and partners that they identify as family.

This training will help you to understand how the Unit, Personal & Family Readiness Program has changed, and stayed the same, as we have transitioned from having FROs to DRCs and URCs. Also included is information about how you can get more involved with your unit family as a volunteer!

Command Team Training

Training is provided to all members of the unit’s UPFRP Command Team Leadership and is designed to orient and guide them in their roles and responsibilities as well as the operating components of the program.

Available upon request for members of the Command Team Leadership which includes:

  • Commanding Officer
  • Executive Officer
  • Sergeant Major or Senior Enlisted Advisor
  • Chaplain
  • Readiness Coordinator
  • Single Marine Representative
  • Family Readiness Command Team Advisor(s)

Readiness Coordinator Training

Unit, Personal & Family Readiness Program Training is available to all Deployment Readiness Coordinators (DRC) within 30 days of hire and Uniformed Readiness Coordinators (URC) within 60 days of appointment.
